CFFR Outreach Grants

CFFR Outreach Grant

The Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research provides financial support for educational (informal and formal) outreach activities and community engagement involving any aspect of living or fossil foraminifera or other protists, such as diatoms, coccolithophorids, dinoflagellates, acritarchs, or radiolaria. Potential fundable projects include, but are not limited to, development of educational material for classrooms, creation of websites or other online content, and museum displays. No individual grant will be made for more than $2,500. The Foundation's Board of Directors reserves the right to make no awards or to make awards that differ from the requested budget.

The application must include the following materials:

  • The applicant's Curriculum Vitae
  • Up to 3-page summary from the applicant including: 1) detailed description of the proposed outreach including target audience; 2) overall project goals; 3) importance; 3) expected outcomes (and how they will be assessed); 4) timeline; and 5) a detailed budget with justification for the expenditures. Budgets should provide sufficient detail that a complete understanding of the financial aspects of the proposed work is clear.

Applicants must be or become members of the Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research at the time of acceptance of the award. We encourage all qualified applicants, and especially invite those from groups underrepresented in science, to apply. We and the successful candidate should abide by the ethics statement of the Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research.

The application package should be sent as a single PDF file and must be received by March 1 (for spring and summer activities) or August 1 (for fall and winter activities).
