Research Interests

• Ecology, paleoecology, biogeography and paleobiogeography of benthic foraminifera, particularly around North America and in the Atlantic deep-sea
• Using foraminiferal data to reconstruct past environments and past biotic response to global change
• Quaternary history of coastal North Carolina
• Current projects include "Mesoscale response to rapid environmental change in Kimmeridgian benthic foraminifera" with former colleagues at the Natural History Museum, London and "Foraminiferal diversity and communities through time" with Marty Buzas of the Smithsonian Institution.
